HAMPSHIRE & THE NEW FOREST

Hampshire

Hampshire, with the Solent, Southampton Water and the Isle of Wight, is one of the sailing playgrounds of England. Nearby Portsmouth Harbour has Nelson's Victory, the Mary Rose and the ironclad HMS Warrior. Winchester has its 11-13th century cathedral and reputedly the remains of King Arthur's Round Table. Beaulieu is a great family attraction, and welcomes dog walkers to its grounds. The New Forest, England's first official visitor destination, has over 3,000 ponies, 3,000 cattle and 2,500 deer wandering freely around the National Park.

With miles of delightful coastline and countryside, the area boasts a plethora of some of the best attractions and outdoor pursuits anywhere in the country. Come rain or shine there are endless options when you are looking for things to do. Once you have explored the mainland you can take a ferry over to the Isle of Wight and explore.

SUSSEX

Sussex

Sussex has a plethora of historic houses and gardens and three of the historic cinque ports. The 1066 Story is told at Battle, near Hastings. Eastbourne has the impressive Beachy Head and Seven Sisters cliffs as backdrop.

Ashdown Forest, now more of a heath, covers 6400 acres of upland, with a large deer, badger and rare bird population. Ideal for a spot of doggy exercise!

The heights of Box Hill and Leith Hill rise above the North Downs to overlook large tracts of richly wooded countryside, containing a string of well protected villages. The Devil’s Punchbowl, near Hindhead, is a breathtaking two mile long sandstone valley, overlooked by the 900-ft Gibbet Hill. Farnham, in the west of the county, has Tudor and Georgian houses flanking the 12th century castle.

ChilternsThe Chiltern Hills, a favourite spot for walkers of all kinds, stretch from the River Thames, Oxfordshire to Hitchin, Hertfordshire and are among the UK's nationally protected countryside.

SOUTH DOWNS

South DownsCombining a biodiverse landscape with bustling towns and villages, the South Downs National Park is recognised as an Area of Outstanding Beauty. A great destination for families and their furry companions!
